Students get materials

Kathmandu: Sajha Prayas Nepal distributed woolen caps and educational materials to the students of Subarneshwor Lower Secondary School, Bhaktapur. A press statement issued here on Friday by Kiran Chalise, general secretary, Sajha Prayas Nepal, stated that the programme was organised to help the children get their education. The statement further said that the fund was collected through Dabali, a musical show, organised jointly by Sajha Prayas Nepal and Aka Fuji Daiko, a month ago.

SPN Chairperson Meets GPI Founder

Sajha Prayas Nepal-SPN Chairperson Kiran Chalise met Global Press Institute- GPI founder and Executive Director Cristi Hegranes on July 20, 2012 at the office of Sajha Prayas Nepal. The meeting was scheduled to discuss whether or not SPN and GPI can join hands for any national and international attempts to be taken by SPN and GPI in line with the objectives and goal of both organizations. SPN Treasurer Naresh Rawal was also present in the meeting.
In the meeting SPN chairperson first welcomed the GPI founder and shared briefly about SPN and its taken initiatives on its working areas and issues.  He put forward the ideas for collaboration as Joint initiative for getting the funds (Joint proposal submission at national and international levels on media awareness, advocacy, campaign); Trainer exchange program to facilitate media/social training; Joint initiative for journalism training for college/school students and rural girls; Joint initiative for media research in South Asia and Joint initiative for media/social cause workshop in Nepal.  
Responding to the explored ideas, GPI founder said that GPI is ready to collaborate with SPN for any of the presented ideas. She said that GPI has been getting funds from major two organizations now and she will share the ideas with such organizations when she will be back in USA and write accordingly to SPN. Further, she gave her commitment to seek the funds for the explored ideas by developing the joint proposals and concepts. She asked SPN to explore such funding agencies/opportunities so that both of the organizations will develop the concepts/proposals and submit accordingly. She found the explored idea of collaboration is innovative and GPI will begin the process of creating a joint proposal in coming days.
At the end of the meeting SPN chairperson thanked GPI founder for her commitments and invaluable time for the meeting. He said that he will share the concept of South Asian level media research on “The Status of Women Journalists in South Asia” soon and asked to explore funding agencies for carrying out the research.  The meeting ended fruitfully with collaborative approach with internationally recognized media institution GPI.
